Celebrate The Easing Of Lockdown And British Summertime With A Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Spring is truly here, which means the sun is shining, the days are getting longer, and there is at long last some warmth in the air. Not only is it the start of British summer time, lockdown is beginning to ease,  and you will have the opportunity to meet people outside again on March 29th in groups of 6, either from the same household or from 2 families. To celebrate the world getting a little bit brighter, and to cheer up your younger children, why not meet up with some of your friends or family and plan a teddy bear’s picnic?

How to plan your teddy bear’s picnic

Everyone loves a teddy bear’s picnic, and it gives your children the opportunity to not only meet up with their human friends, but also meet each other’s teddies, play games and eat lots of yummy picnic food. But as a parent, how do you plan the perfect teddy bear picnic for your family?

  • Find a teddy bear friend

Every child needs a teddy bear for their picnic, so this is key. Set out all of your teddy bear friends and get them ready to have some fun. You may want to find a bear like Betsy who encompasses everything about spring, with her delicate florals in pale blue with mint green, pink and dark yellow tones; a perfectly English teddy bear who would be a great addition to your picnic. It doesn’t matter which teddy bears you choose, as long as they are there!

  • Choose a location

No matter whether you meet up at the park, your garden or if the weather takes a turn for the worse in your own home, everyone is bound to have a great time, but you need to choose the right location for your picnic depending on how many guests you have attending. If you are meeting somewhere like the park, you may want to check that there is parking and toilet facilities nearby.

  • Prepare your picnic

It wouldn’t be a teddy bear’s picnic, without a picnic! Take into consideration what your guests may like (not forgetting your teddy’s favourite foods) and put together a picnic which is full of yummy sweet treats, as well as some pieces of fruit and vegetables so you can get in your five-a-day. When preparing your picnic, you could even bake some teddy bear shaped cakes and biscuits - which gives you a great excuse to enjoy a family activity together and buy lots of colourful plastic plates and cups to make the setting bright and cheerful.

  • Plan some outdoor-friendly activities

Use your imagination and think outside the box for some fun games you could play which include the teddy bears too - like bear hunts, hide and seek or even teddy bear competitions with prizes for the winners. The most important part of your picnic is to make sure everyone has fun, so by planning some engaging activities for your younger guests, you can guarantee they will have a great time.
