Celebrating Independence Day & Canada Day with Grin & Bear

Here at Grin & Bear, we are always trying to find reasons to celebrate and over the next few weeks it will be both Independence Day, as well as Canada Day. As a business, we can design a teddy bear for almost every occasion. The founder of our business, Michael, is a designer and huge teddy bear lover and created the business because of his passion for creating these wonderful furry friends, so we are certain there will be the perfect teddy bear for every purpose - including the celebration of Independence Day and Canada Day with our specially designed flag teddy bears.

The history of Independence Day

Also known as the 4th of July, Independence Day is a federal holiday in The United States and commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. In America, this day is of great significance and is now one of the most important symbols of freedom to American citizens. Previously, the 13 colonies of America were ruled by the British, who had been on the continent since the 16th Century, but on 4th July the American Revolution officially ended, and the colonies declared themselves no longer part of the British Empire, cutting ties with Great Britain completely.

What is Canada Day?

Often known as ‘Canada’s Birthday’, Canada Day is celebrated on 1st July each year and commemorates the joining of Canada's original three provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Canada province, which is now Ontario and Quebec) as one nation in 1867. Similar to Independence Day in America, Canada Day is a national holiday and celebrated each year throughout the country. The holiday was previously called Dominion Day, for the Dominion of Canada in the British empire, but was renamed in 1982.

Would you like to celebrate these holidays with a teddy bear?
